Pay Benchmarking Exercise - Can you contribute?

Commissioning HR is undertaking a pay benchmarking exercise for the Food Manufacturing Industry.

We are targeting the South West Region but equally are happy for submissions from outside of this region to see how the South West compares nationally. Additionally, we would like to see how the Food Manufacturing Industry compares with other Low-Skilled Manufacturing organisations so again submissions from these types of organisations are welcome.

In order for the results to be a true reflection of the industry and geographical region, we require as many organisations to take part as possible. Whilst we are undertaking this research for a client, we understand that organisations may feel uncomfortable providing this information and to alleviate any concerns, we will protect confidentiality by only forwarding anonymised results.

What Do I Need to Provide?

If you wish to take part we will require submission of the following:

  • Pay rates for hourly paid roles broken down into departments, typically such as:
    • Production Operatives
    • Line Leaders
    • Process
    • Hygiene
    • Stores
    • Any shift premium % paid on top of the normal hourly rate
    • Hours of work and shift patterns
  • Company Information such as:
    • Name and Contact (in case we need to contact you and to check we don’t gather duplicates - this will be anonymised into Company A, B, C etc for the results)
    • Total Employee Numbers
    • Geographical Location
    • £ Turnover
    • Industry, eg Food Manufacturing or Other Low-Skilled Manufacturing

Please note, we are not currently undertaking this exercise for salaried, management or roles outside of the direct cost contribution.

What Will Happen Next?

The results will be collated and analysed by Commissioning HR. We hope to be able to identify relevant statistical results such as the maximum, median and minimum pay rates. We will also provide any other analysis that is possible out of the information gathered. As a thank you, all organisations that participate in this pay benchmarking exercise will receive a copy of the anonymised analysed results.
